31 architectural students from KU visits Malaysia

JOHOR BAHRU, 3 January 2018-  About 31 architectural students and two faculty members from Kansas University (KU) Lawrence, United States of America have participated in Malaysia Architectural Study Tour 2018 organized by Institut Sultan Iskandar (ISI) of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

The delegation which led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kapila Silva will be staying in Malaysia for seven days and six nights starting from 3rd January 2018 to 9th January 2018 visiting state of Johor, Selangor,Perak and Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.

CSR Programs Kampung Parit Jawa Ulu

15 SBEL students and 4 PhD students from Greenovation Research Group successfully completed two CSR programs with children of Kg Parit Jawa Ulu. 30 primary school children attended 1. Doodling Arts, and 2. Ecology of Home Gardens. Teachers, Headmaster, Penghulu and Head of Village appreciated much on the programs on sharing of knowledge in arts and science to their children.

Lawatan Penduduk Kampung Permatang Duku, Pontian

Seramai 25 orang wakil penduduk Kampung Permatang Duku, Benut, Pontian dijemput untuk melihat pameran dan pembentangan Projek Akhir pelajar tahun satu Senibina Landskap pada 28 Disember 2017. Pelajar telah menjalankan kajian tapak bagi Projek 5:Design and Planning of Playscape for Young Children in Rural Environment di Kampung Permatang Duku, Pontian pada 3 hingga 4 Disember 2017. Proses rekabentuk telah dijalankan selama 4 minggu dan dibentangkan kepada penduduk kampung di Fakulti Alam Bina.

Quantity Surveying Computer Lab officially launched by Ybhg Dato’ Sr Abdul Aziz Abdullah, President of Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM)

Johor Bahru, 21st November 2017: Department of Quantity Surveying, Faculty of Built Environment has officially launched its newly upgraded computer lab on 21st November 2017. The official launching ceremony was graced by YBhg Dato’ Sr Abdul Aziz, President of Board of Quantity Surveying Malaysia (BQSM). The ceremony was held to appreciate the generous contribution from the Department of Quantity Surveying alumni in materialising the upgrading process. Initially, the computer lab which is previously known as Quantity Surveying Computer Studio (Studio Komputer Ukur Bahan) was designed with science lab furniture and layout. Not only it deterred the teaching and learning process, it was also unergonomic, supplied with dilapidated and outdated hardware and computer software applications. It has transformed quite significantly into a more conducive facility and equipped with updated computer hardware and software applications suitable for quantity surveying and construction teaching and learning activities. The name was later changed to Quantity Surveying Computer Lab (Makmal Komputer Ukur Bahan) to reflect its functions.

Faculty of Built Environment selected as one of the Satellite myBIM Centre for CIDB in promoting Building Information Modelling (BIM) in Malaysia

Johor Bahru, 20th November 2017: Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) has launched the first one-stop myBIM Centre in Malaysia on 20th November 2017. This RM3 million centre was officially launched by Works Minister Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof. This centre targets to promote better implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the construction industry. BIM as the most recent technology used in construction industry, will not only assist construction players in digitalising the representation of building, but also facilitate better collaboration and efficient information exchange between construction parties. The CIDB’s myBIM centre, which consists of myBIM studio, myBIM lab, conference room and seminar room aims to provide facilities for practitioners to accommodate BIM training programmes.
